F.A.Q.

Q - How can I become a member of the Fredericksburg Rescue Squad?

A - By filling out our Membership Application.  This can be downloaded off of our website.  These applications are presented to our membership during our monthly Business Meeting, which is held the first Tuesday of each month.  You will be notified of your status thereafter.

Q - Do I need to live or work in Fredericksburg to volunteer with the Fredericksburg Rescue Squad?

A - Absolutely not! Many of our members reside in surrounding counties such as Stafford, Spotsylvania, Caroline, King George and even Fairfax but volunteer their time in Fredericksburg. Many travel to Richmond, Washington, D.C. and Maryland for their full time jobs.

Q - How can I help with a tax-deductible donation?
A - You may donate any amount you wish by simply clicking on the donation button in the upper right hand column.  Or you may mail donations to us at:  Fredericksburg Rescue, P. O. Box 444, Fredericksburg, Virginia 22404-0444.  Thank you in advance for your continued support of our squad!

Q - Does the Rescue Squad give tours of the squad building for schools or organizations?
A - Yes!  Please send us an email with your information (group name, number of people, date and time).  We are staffed by volunteers from 6 pm - 6 am during the week.  During the weekend, we are solely staffed by volunteers.

Q - Is there a way I can personally tour the Rescue Squad ?
A - We do allow personal tours.  Again, please send us an email with your information (group name, number of people, date and time).  We are staffed by volunteers from 6 pm - 6 am during the week.  During the weekend, we are solely staffed by volunteers.

Q - What do I do if myself or someone else needs emergency help from the Rescue Squad?
A - Call 911 immediately! The 911 Operator will assign the closest squad to you.

Q - Do I have to be certified as an EMT to join the Fredericksburg Rescue Squad?
A - No, FRS welcomes anyone with an interest in Emergency Medical Services and volunteering in our  community. After joining our squad, we will provide free EMT and Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) Training for you. We will also provide EVOC Training for those members who wish to only drive our ambulances. Various other levels of training will also be available to you.  We are recruiting members for our Support Group, too.  In addition to rendering non-EMS assistance to our active members, the Support Group is available "24/7" to provide "auxiliary-type" services and support to FRS members who are on-scene of extended calls such as major catastrophes, fires, search & rescues, etc.

Q - How much does it cost to join the Fredericksburg Rescue Squad?
A - There is no cost to join our squad and we provide free training and uniforms.  We only ask you to donate your time by becoming a volunteer in your community.
