Oktoberfest

Guten Tag!

Did you know that Fredericksburg was named for Frederick, Prince of Wales? Frederick was the son of the king of Great Britain, George II, & was the heir apparent to the throne. However, he died before his father, & so when George II passed, the infamous George III, Frederick's son, became the King of Great Britain & the last king of the American colonies.

Now what does that have to do with Oktoberfest? Well, Frederick, like his father, was German, not British (Confused? A look at the history of Great Britain can clear that up.)

Oktoberfest is a long-standing German celebration, beginning in 1811. It is also a tradition (albeit a shorter one) in historic Fredericksburg. Capital Ale was the host and a fun time was had by all along the venue.

And the Fredericksburg Rescue Squad was pleased to be a part of the event again, providing stand-by medical response in case of any injuries or accidents. Dankeschoen!
