Today was the Fredericksburg Fire Department's Open House, held at Station 1 downtown. They graciously invited us, along with the police department, to participate and bring along our barrel train to give the kiddos (and adults!) a fun ride around the area.

What a fantastic event! The FFD really knows how to throw a party! Everyone was treated to tours of the fire equipment, safety demonstrations, and Stop The Bleed training, to name a few of the exhibits. We were exited to see Sparky the Fire Dog make an appearance, too. The firefighters also cooked-up some tasty hot dogs to share. We had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with numerous people and we shared how they, too, could volunteer in the exciting, challenging, and satisfying field of emergency medical response.

It was a little nerve-wracking at first, when it started to rain right before the start, but then it cleared-up and didn't start again until it was time to say goodbye and thanks FFD, for another great open house! See you next year!
